Winter Wanderers by Carola von Staden

I have fallen terribly behind in sharing. The holidays just take so much time away from work! Here is another photo sent to me by a crafter. Carola modified my Winter Wandering files to match her family.

She added the two children using silhouettes she made for family photos. The nice thing about this shadow box file is that is was designed so that you can easily switch the characters without changing the landscape pieces.

Carola also did some beautiful paper choices. I love the combination of the glitter paper sky and the mat.

This is a great January project for those of you that live in snow country!

Tea Light Village by Elke Reinartz

Elke Reinartz from Belgium sent me these photos of her recently completed Tea Light Village. I love seeing how others vary my presentation. There are a few notable things in this one.

Elke made all of the roofs red which I love. It just adds a level of contrast that helps define the buildings. If you check out my page of Tea Light Variations here you will see how others have incorporated color into their villages.

Also notice how she has arrange the hex bases. My village displays have been linear. She has taken the same files and arranged them in a circular motif- much more appropriate for the center of a table.

Elke also purchased some detail pieces. Her street lights and tiny people are all in plastic. They certainly bring a new liveliness to Tea Light Village.

If you haven’t made Tea Light Village yet you can get all the files at these links:

I love it when folks share their work with me. If you have images of your projects from 3dcuts files please send them along to me at marji@3dcuts.com. Also share them on the facebook and instagram pages for the various cutting machines. That is the best way to spread creativity.

A New Nativity

I continue to explore using embroidery hoops as the structure for shadow boxes. I love the farmhouse vibe and they make the project so easy. I have just released a contemporary Nativity scene using this technique. I love simplified Nativities and followed that trend in this design.

All of the card stock parts are easy shapes to cut. That combined with the embroidery hoops makes this a very quick project to make. It is a good project for beginners just starting with 3d card stock projects.

Tea Light Village in Orange!

Silhouette posted this on face book so I followed the links. Giovanna Fucci posted this photo using my Tea Light Village Tall House pattern in a Halloween display. She cut it in orange! I love it! It is such a simple pattern and so easy to assemble.

Tea Light Village 2021!!!

The buildings are here!!! Everything is uploaded and I hope the links are all working! Let me know if they aren’t. I have been testing everything.

New in 2021 is the Windmill and Well House. The Village has needed another tall structure to balance out the Lighthouse.

I also have added The Academy. This is based on the old Center School in Coventry, CT. I went to first grade in that 4 room building many decades ago!

It is time to add these to your collection! Here are all the important links.

Returning to designing.......

It has been a long time since I have shared a new design. I had to take a surprise medical leave for about 6 months. I am all fixed now and set to again start designing,

Today I sent out a mailing for three new designs. All use an embroidery hoop for the basic structure. It makes assembly so much quicker when you use something like that as the base. Check out these three new projects.

Deer Family Hoop

These all use 12” embroidery hoops that I got from Amazon. They certainly can be reduced for smaller hoops. Go to the tutorials for links to the supplies.

Keeping it Simple

I was so impressed by this customized presentation of a simple Ledge Village building by Nicole Jolle. She used simplicity in design brilliantly to let the message shine. Simplicity is a tool we often overlook and it can be so powerful.

This cutting file is part of the Group 1 Ledge Village collection available here. The tutorial to assemble this building is here.
